Final Exam
The Final Exam will become available under a navigation link on the left at 5pm IST today (20th Nov).
There will be three parts. You will have 10 attempts at each part.
Of course, unlike homeworks, your scores will not be visible after attempts.
Last date is 25th November. You are expected to spend a total of 90 min on the exam - honour code.
(For IIT and IIIT students taking the exam as a proctored one, the deadline is 6:30 pm today, i.e., 90 min.)

The Intelligent Web - finally in print
Am happy to announce that my second book, on which large parts of this course are based, is finally out in print as well as a Kindle edition (a steal at $5, even if I say so myself :-).

[I may send an email to all enrolled students to cover those who may have 'dropped out'; for those who are still 'with me' in the course - pardon the intrusion]

Data Analysis Assignment for HW7
The data analysis assignment for HW 7 has been added to the navigation bar; this was added a while back,
but I still noticed some posts about not being able to find it.
The assignment is due only at the end of the course - Nov 18th, i.e. a couple of days before the final.

Programming Assignment for H6A
The programming assignment for HW 6A has been added to the navigation bar.
(The assignment is due only at near end of the course - Nov 4th.)
However, since the lecture videos for Unit 6 are also now available, so the HW can be attempted based on this material.

Some errors in 4B lectures
The matrix-vector product should have 1 as its last entry instead of -1; a typo.
Shortest paths being computed in 4B-5 are "from a particular source / goal vertex TO every other vertex" instead of "from every vertex to the goal" as was mentioned in the initial version of the lecture viewed by some of you.
The above is now fixed so you should now have the revised lecture: 4B-5 Shortest Paths and Summary (7:43)
Apologies for this more serious bug as well as the typo (which I have not fixed since it is relatively minor).

The assignment is now available - see the left navigation bar.
For those who lost an attempt in looking for this, apologies; I have increased the number of attempts.
Please do not attempt to answer without first implementing the required solution on the given data.

Welcome
Welcome to this course on Web Intelligence and Big Data. Go through the course-outline and references-and-resources pages to get an idea of what we will cover and additional material, as well as some programming tools that we will use.
First thing - please do fill out the feedback survey available in the navigation bar to the left .. a lot of you have enrolled and I really want to get to know you better, even if in the aggregate!
My attempt will be to cater to both those wanting a deep dive as well as the many who are looking for a unifying big-picture and basic understanding of this new area that is attracting so much interest.
Please see the section on Course Logistics where I explain how the course will proceed.
Then plunge in and start viewing the Video Lectures.
There is also a simple quiz - to get us all started with the course rhythm. Everyone should be able to do this one after viewing the brief material we have in this in this 'zeroth' week. The Week 1 Lectures are also posted so that those who want to rush ahead can do so. The material will get longer and deeper as we go along - so be patient also.
The initial lectures are recorded with me speaking rather slowly. This picks up pace over time once all of you get familiar with my speech. Feel free to fast-forward to increase the speech rate as you find convenient.
The references page has all the lecture slides available for download; so feel free to get a preview of the entire course material by browsing through them.
Last but not least - most of the fun will be in the discussion forum, so do visit it regularly and share your doubts, solve others' queries, and give me some suggestions too!
Looking forward to learning together with all of you over the next 12+ weeks.
The final exam is on 20th November, 2013 - which is when to course officially ends, though you will have a few days more to submit it.
