'Dark Night' by

A dark night is falling
O'er the windswept plains
The radient sun, in flowing robes
Sets her face down again
Beyond the boundaries of my world
The light is shining no more
As the day shortens, I turn
Wondering what is in store
The biting cold rips through my clothes
Icicles carelessly cutting, draw blood
The uncaring sun clouds over, ignores
My pleas sent from the mud
Even the stars darken
And the moon will no longer shine
Loss, hopelessness, loneliness, shame
The pain of the dark is mine
My wings are tattered, broken
And I can no longer fly
Hope and light have lifted, fled
Life: simply a journey to die
For what is life without love
From a lover, companion, or friend
But a long, cold journey, into death
Finally, to my sufferings, an end
The sun has left this world
Her light no longer bathes me
Stars and the moon follow suit
Left all alone, I can see
Past life and past death
The siren is still calling
Beyond the boundaries of infinity
A dark night is falling
