Still furious about the election, liberals are lashing out at blacks. First it was Condoleezza Rice. But calling a Ph.D. who advised a sitting president during war "Aunt Jemima" apparently hasn't satiated the Democrats' rage. Even the racist cartoons didn't help.
So this week, they've turned with a vengeance to Clarence Thomas. Only the Democrats would try to distract from their racist attacks on one black Republican by leveling racist attacks against a different black Republican. If Democrats don't nip this in the bud, soon former Klanner and Democratic Sen. Bob Byrd will be their spokesman.
In the past few weeks, there have been nasty insinuations all around about Condoleezza Rice's competence for the job.
Democratic consultant Bob Beckel – who demonstrated his own competence running Walter Mondale's campaign – said of Rice, "I don't think she's up to the job."
Joseph Cirincione, with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (so you know they don't have an agenda or anything), said Rice "doesn't bring much experience or knowledge of the world to this position." This was reassuring, inasmuch as that was also liberals' assessment of the current president before he took office and he, to put it mildly, has been doing rather well.
The Kansas City Star editorialized that Rice "has not demonstrated great competence in the last four years," which is to say, Dr. Rice failed to be sufficiently clairvoyant to predict the events of Sept. 11, 2001.
Columnist Bob Herbert sneered of Rice's nomination in the New York Times: "Competence has never been highly regarded by the fantasists of the George W. Bush administration." For example, these are the bumbling nitwits who conquered Afghanistan, the "graveyard of empires," and toppled Baghdad in less time than your average Jennifer Lopez marriage lasts. (Wait, I can't remember: Was it the Bush administration that hired Jayson Blair?)
So far, Dr. Rice has demonstrated her abundant competence only in academia, geopolitics, history, government, college administration, classical music and athletics. I eagerly await the Bob Herbert column in which he lists the subjects and pursuits he's mastered. If only Rice talked about her accessorizing like Clinton's Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, she might impress the sort of fellow who writes for the New York Times.
Liberals at least give white Republicans credit for being evil. Rumsfeld is a dangerous warmonger, Paul Wolfowitz is part of an international Jewish conspiracy, Dick Cheney is "Dr. No." But Dr. Rice? She's a dummy.
In fact, after spending the last four years telling us that President Bush was an empty suit, a vessel for neoconservative fantasies of perpetual war, liberals have now found someone who is Bush's puppet: the black chick.
It's all so eerily familiar.
The late Mary McGrory, a white liberal, called Scalia "a brilliant and compelling extremist" – as opposed to McGrory herself, a garden-variety extremist of average intelligence. But Thomas she dismissed as "Scalia's puppet," quoting another white liberal, Alvin J. Bronstein of the American Civil Liberties Union, to make the point. This is the kind of rhetoric liberals are reduced to when they just can't bring themselves to use the n-word.
Most recently – at least as we go to press – last Sunday Harry Reid, the Democratic leader in the Senate, had this to say about Justice Clarence Thomas: "I think that he has been an embarrassment to the Supreme Court. I think that his opinions are poorly written." You'd think Thomas' opinions were written in ebonics.
In the same interview, Reid called Justice Antonin Scalia "one smart guy." He said that although he disagreed with Scalia, his reasoning is "very hard to dispute." Scalia is "one smart guy"; Thomas is the janitor. If Democrats are all going to read from the same talking points, they might want to get someone other than David Duke to write them.
On the Sean Hannity radio show, Democratic pundit Pat Halpin defended Sen. Reid's laughable attack on Thomas by citing Bob Woodward's book "The Brethren," which – according to Halpin – vividly portrays Thomas as a nincompoop.
I return to my standing point that liberals don't read. Harry Reid clearly hasn't read any of the decisions Justice Thomas has written, and Pat Halpin clearly hasn't read "The Brethren."
"The Brethren" came out a decade before Thomas was even nominated to the Supreme Court. The only black Supreme Court justice discussed in "The Brethren" is Thurgood Marshall. That's one we haven't heard in a while: I just can't tell you guys apart.
How many black justices have there been on the Supreme Court again? Oh yes: two. It's one thing to confuse Potter Stewart with Lewis Powell. After all, there have been a lot of white guys on the court. But there have been only two black justices – and Democrats can't keep them straight. Two! That's like getting your mother and father confused. I can name every black guy on a current National Hockey League roster: Is it asking Democrats too much to remember the names of the only two black Supreme Court justices?
In "America (The Book)," by Jon Stewart and the writers of Comedy Central's "Daily Show," the section on the judiciary describes how to make a sock puppet of Clarence Thomas and then says, "Ta-da! You're Antonin Scalia!" On grounds of originality alone, Mr. Stewart, I want my money back.
But reviewing the book in the New York Times, Caryn James called the sock puppet joke one of the book's "gems of pointed political humor." Funny how the liberal punditocracy all parrot this same "sock puppet" line about Thomas year after year, almost as if they were sock pu-- oh, never mind.
Curiously, of all the liberals launching racist attacks on black conservatives I've quoted above, only two are themselves black: the two who write for the New York Times. So I guess there are still a couple of blacks taking orders from the Democrats. Isn't there an expression for that? I think it begins with "Uncle" and ends with "Tom."
Ann Coulter is a bestselling author and syndicated columnist. Her most recent book is How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must).
Don't we have an Ann rule, where you have to post a pic of her? :)
Click on link in post #2...this is a double.
Democrat neurosis has become full psychosis. They rage and lash out at everything sacred and everyone righteous. Such is the evil of liberalism. They cannot admit to even the possibility that they are wrong....They must blame everybody else. How sick!
You no the black constituency has basically sold out to the Democratic Party. Instead of forcing the Dems to do something with substance to earn their support, they have basically thrown their allegiance to them while requiring nothing in return. That's why Dems feel free to bash any black conservatives because they have escaped the so-called plantation. When the majority of blacks finally wake up and realize that they need to hold the party they support responsible in order to gain that support, they will have a voice that is worth listening to. You don't hear the Dems blasting Hispanics the same way they do blacks who are conservative. Could it be that they realize Hispanics will hold them up to scrutiny and if they find them lacking, vote for the party that will address their needs. What Dr. Rice and Justice Thoomas have in common is through hard work they have made something of themselves. Instead of holding the Barry Bonds and Ron Artests up as role models to young blacks we should be holding these two up. They've earned the respect that is justly do them. So WAKE UP BLACK AMERICA and hold the Democrats accountable for their words and actions against black conservatives as well as black liberals. Bigotry is bigotry irregardless of your party affiliation.
Now, THIS is the way to start a morning. Ann is a classic - and remains the
queen of conservative writers.
Somehow, she manages to top herself with
every new column.
I'm just glad she's on OUR side!
Brilliant,
simply brilliant!
I guess liberals will be demanding a new category for those stupid forms we all have to fill out, right under "Left-Handed-Pacific-Islander-with-Ambiguous-Gender-Identity", which shall be deemed "African-American-but-not-really-because-Registered-Republican".
The Dems know that if they drop to carying only 70% of the black vote they
can kiss power good bye for ever. That is why they are so hysterical about
maintianing this myth in the minds of the average black that all the rest of
America is closet KKK, except the Dems, who will fight against all those mean
racists so that blacks will ahve a chance.
Having Rice as Sec of State
and Thomas top dog on SCOTUS just blows that myth out of the water and they know
it.
So the Dems, being the actual heirs of the KKK, are resorting to
their knee-jerk stereotypes of Rice and Thomas and they really think everyone is
going to just swallow it and go on.
I think that they are pre-emptively
falling for the Republican's maneuver, and are too ideologically blinded to
realize it.
The old story of 'The Emporor's New Clothes' was written
about people like the Democrat advisers. They all think that by repeating the
same canards over and over, and if everybody joins in, then it is as good as
true. All we need is an innocent child to point it out to everyone.
BTW, does Ann look better as the years go by or what?
I used to think
she looked too skinny, but man, she is really a doll now.
I almost hate
to say that, as her columns are great and what actually makes her stand out, but
her and Michelle Malkin are as attractive as they are intelligent and it is such
a treat to see them succede for some reason.
Lord, I sound like such a
boy.
Did anyone hear the debate on Sean Hannities show between Ann Coulter and Bob Beckel before Thanksgiving?... She sliced and diced him like an expert chief at Benihana's...L.O.L.
Who is this, name dropper, Bob Herberts? I know who Jason Blair is but don't have the faintest who Bob Horberts is.
Both sides like the idea of legitimization via repetition; but, Coulter is dead on. Would be nice to see her prune some of the trash out of our midst as well. Wonder how she'd do.
Because you demanded them, once again, here they are -
This has got to be one of her best columns to date.
The role of the fictional "Uncle Tom" is so often misunderstood, particularly
by Americans of African descent. Uncle Tom was a dignified and reticent
personality, who even through all the insults and affronts visited upon him,
still down at the center was a good and insofar as it was within his capacity, a
generous soul, without vengeance for those who berated and beat upon him at
every turn. For he knew, that to exact revenge was not his province, and that in
Heaven, he would receive his reward. Likewise, those who called down this
persecution upon him would pay the price in the next life.
"Uncle Tom"
was Mahatma Ghandi before Mahatma Ghandi was born, and was meant to be the
inspiration for all slaves to be acknowledged as human beings first, and only in
unfortunate circumstances secondly.
A little overkill? Eats up HUGE gobs of bandwidth....
At least after
the first half-dozen or so.
It's unfortunate that most dims will stop reading this after two sentences. They might learn something if they read the whole thing.
The RATS have learned how to deal with Ann on the Hannity show. They
basically scream over her and don't shut up the whole time they're on the air.
Hannity hasn't learned how to turn off their mikes.
Proof once again that Conservative, bright, powerful, forthright,
self-assured, outspoken, witty, pity, well-read and versed women with attitude
are attractive to Conservative men!
Oh... and she is physically
attractive as well!!!
But my wife looked better at 43 yrs.
All right already .........
Overkill indeed already with the pix.
I lost the whole point of the post. From a woman's opinion one pix is
MORE than enough thank you.
Well, I've always been fascinated by older women... 43, huh? Yup, that's
about right...
Hey, Ann! I'll be 43 in about 3 months! Will you wait for
me?
;-)
Mark
I run a homeless ministry in the inner city. Even with a devout Christian
running for President, most black pastors could not see their interests
coincided with Bush.
They voted Kerry, in the main. The consequences of
this decision hurt the people they claim to want to help. Like Jesse Jackson and
Al Sharpton, it is clear there is not much conviction to Christian principles
underlying the politics.
"They[Dems] might learn something if they read the whole thing."
"Learn? we don't need no stinkin learnin..."
Hillary Clinton
Yep, that is the tactic they employ, not only with Ann, but any conservative
woman. They know conservatives tend to be polite.
But if you and I
notice this, a lot of other people do, too. The Dems are killing themselves
publically.
You are right that the shows need to stop this stuff. I
click the clicker immediately when people start shouting. The Dems are trying to
lower the ratings at Fox.
"The role of the fictional "Uncle Tom" is so often misunderstood,

So
true.
Isnt it ironic how conotations often have the opposite meaning
from reality?
This is definately one of them, but you cant change that
now, it would seem.
Man, all those pictures of Ann give me a sugar high.
But doesnt she
look better with a few more pounds on her?
I think the pics with more
fullness to her face look so much better.
Why do women think they have
to look so skinny?
Dang... I'm a male, an I still would... er, try to have her baby!!!
You are a good person!!!
"The RATS have learned how to deal with Ann on the Hannity show. They

Hannity hasn't learned how to turn off their mikes."
He
really needs to learn to do so.
Ann is a powerful weapon as she has the
courage to connect the dots that most wont and then she will stick to her
convictions like most wont.
The left is definately just trying to shout
her down now.
Wow! Thanks for the Ann photo-palooza!!!
Looks like Bobbie Byrd can dust off his sheets and wear them in public again. You know if you make someone angry enough eventually they will start showing their true colors.
Hey, you gotta know that if you click on an Ann Coulter thread, you have to
hit STOP on the browser if you're on a dial-up after about 30 seconds or so.
Enough to load a couple, but not enough for the whole suite.
Of course,
if you have broadband, or you can't do without, just let it run...
Ann needs a sammich.
Well, that oughta do it.....for the remainder of this calendar year!
I think even Ann would argree that you have perhaps an unhealthy number of her pictures in your collection!
Nice. That's a good one.
Does anyone here ever wonder why Ann never appears in National Review or
American Standard or the New York Post?
I believe that Ann Coulter went through a serious version of "shunning"
shortly after her very good friend, Barbara Olson, died in a flaming plane crash
on September 11, 2001. Ann wrote a column that called for the US to "invade
their countries, kill all their leaders, and convert them to Christianity." The
publications in question had a problem with the third part of that ultimatum.
Converting back ot Zoroastrianism, however, may be a suitable
compromise. Ahura Madza seems to be a much more benign divinity than Allah, who
manages to take on some of the less-admired characteristics of Ahriman. This was
the religion, incidentally, that was prevalent in the Middle East before the
rise of Islam.
What can one say but "Thank yew!"
But at least you channel it well :-)
I would add Laura Ingraham to that list.
For interested viewers..... Ann will be on both Hannity&Colmes and Scarborough tonight!
I have a couple of friends who are skinny as sticks no matter how much they eat. It may be that she has a metabolism in hyperdrive.
Ann is such a great writer.
Ann is wonderfully hot in this column.
